Visiting this local lake and learning about how this predator free area is helping our New Zealand birds and plants was a rewarding experience for all of the children and parents.
As well as the lake visit, the children have been actively involved in helping the monarch butterfly population, with over 40 butterflies hatched this season.

Pet Day & Flower Show
Pet Day was FANTASTIC!
We had lots of calves and lambs. We had dogs, cats and kitten and even two piglets on show. There were lots of ribbons, rosettes, trophies, cups and certificates issued. Our classrooms looked and smelt wonderful with all our picture displays and flower arrangements. Thank you everyone for making it such a special day.

A busy and exciting term
Other highlights included designing bird feeders, making lanterns, lots of sport - including basketball and some of us patted a kiwi.
The term ended with watching our stars and planets inside the cosmodome.

Pet Day is an eagerly awaited day on our school calendar. This year it is on Friday 28 September from 11am. You can see and pat lambs and calves and view the children's flower show and craft exhibits. This day is a celebration of our rural community and unique school culture.
Mokoia School is where rural education is at its best.
